Navajo Nation American Rescue Plan
The Navajo Nation is working to provide information to its constituents. Please find all information related to Navajo Nation ARPA on this page. Information about the Nation's work to implement the recently passed NN Council Resolution CJY 41 21 and American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), is included on this page. The ARPA allows the Nation to supplement not supplant existing funding. The Navajo Nation must submit spending plans to the federal government to meet federal guidance and timelines. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.
The devastating effects of COVID-19 continue throughout the Navajo Nation, including employment losses, business closures, food and housing insecurity, and other economic disruptions.
On May 29, 2021, the United States Department of Treasury ("U.S. Treasury") allocated $1,861,554,458.43 to the Navajo Nation under the Fiscal Recovery Funds provisions of ARPA. The Fiscal Recovery Funds are designed to build on and expand the relief provided in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act or CARES Act.
On August 16, 2021, the U.S. Treasury allocated additional $217,907,006.50 to the Navajo Nation. With this second allocation, the Navajo Nation received a total of $2,079,461,464.93 Fiscal Recovery Funds.
The Fiscal Recovery Funds are intended to support governmental efforts to mitigate and contain the spread of COVID-19, as well as to respond to the health, social and economic impacts of COVID-19 suffered by residents and businesses.
